I am back to fill my blanks on my blog page after quite some years

Being a toastmaster, I had been pondering about making a diference. I revamped my writing obession by sharing my views on what makes a competent toasmaster beyond the manuals.

A compentent toastmaster is quintessential in the arena of communication and leadership with intelligent direction and skillful execution.As trending toastmasters we dont know enough to be incompetent.

Indentifying strategies to persistently improve our competancies as toastmasters creates a stable structure of our life long learning.Accomplishment of  such strategies invloves the CCB model which is

Classify ,

Categorize and

Build.

Firstly, Understand and Classify what kind of the public speaker is within ourselves.Everyone has innate qualities which should be nurtured. It would make us realize whether we are an informing speaker , an assertive speaker or a persuading speaker.

Secondly, it is essential to categorize and rank the skills we possess. As toastmasters we arent just limited to speaking. We play diverse roles for various events throught a year. It invloves a lot of skills such as creative thinking, team building, networking, Hospitality and coordinating. We could categorize ourself in one among those skills that  makes us an excellent fit in the respective portfolio.

Thirdly, Build relationships. It is important to have friends and grow our connections.Branch out to meet more people.

Embrance friends with common goals and dont forget to accept the differences with ease.

The most authentic thing about being toastmasters is our capacity to create, to overcome, to endure and to transform ourselves by stretching beyond our perceived level of confidence to accelerate our learning and personal growth.

Our competency usually increases over time as we acquire more information and ability through inquiry, observation, and participation.When we feel competent, we can greet new environments with utmost calm and confidence.

The quality of our life, as competent toastmasters is directly proportional to our commitment to excellence,regardless of our chosen field of endeavor.

This is Where I Found Myself

  Motherhood, I have realized, is a lifelong game of losing and finding. You lose sleep… and find strength. You lose control… and find surrender. You lose the woman you once were… and somewhere between spilled milk and tiny fingerprints on the clean walls, you find a newer version of yourself waiting quietly. I learned this most painfully and most beautifully on an ordinary afternoon with my twins - Saket and Smriti. They were around one-and-a-half years old then with unstable feet, endless curiosity and a suspicious talent for making household objects disappear. Honestly, I don’t know why I spent money on toys. Because nothing fascinated them more than my kitchen vessels. Steel tumblers were drums. Lids were frisbees. And my chapati rolling pin? Apparently a national treasure that needed to be hidden daily.
